SIBL ending with pain

This Sunday it was once again a SIBL boulder competition. After only doing endurance training the last weeks it was a great opportunity for me to get some bouldering done before Denmark in two weeks.

Overall, it felt good and many harder problems felt quite easy actually. However, I made some annoying sloppy mistakes, which meant I lost the first place to Buster again; I’m still pleased with my second place!

The good news were that I felt strong and that defiantly showed when I did routes afterwards. All the long boulder circuits has given results J

Sadly during the competition I made this very weird movement that hurt my shoulder, in the same way I injured it last summer, it didn’t feel too bad so I continued climbing. After the competition half way up route the pain came back but much worse and afterwards it was painful to the shoulder. I was a bit scared I injured it again and wouldn’t be able to go to Denmark, so Monday I went to a chiropractor. The news were quite positive it was just some bones in my back that were in the wrong position causing me to pull harder on the shoulder muscles. With now everything on place the pain has almost disappeared and it should be fine to climb easily in the next coming days.

Climbing with my girlfriend

Today I took my girlfriend climbing, it was her first time climbing and I must say I was impressed by her skills and strength on the wall! Without fear she fought her way up wall after wall, and as soon as she got down she always looked for the next route. I wish I had been that brave the first time I climbed, I was terrified the first time I walked into a climbing gym.
Maybe I will get a new climbing partner in the future now :)

Me 'supervising' my girlfriend

Today everyone in London woke up to a nice surprise, it was spring outside! I found it comfortable to just wear a long-sleeved shirt and pair of shorts, which felt quite surreal in February.
Check out the temperature!!

Regional Championship X-country running

Last Friday I actually competed in something else than climbing, I took place in the regional Championship in cross-country running. It was cold day but a clear blue sky made it a bit more comfortable.

It was first when I arrived at the place I realised how they split up the different categories, instead on looking at which year your are born in they looked how old you are on the actual day. As I turned 16 a month ago I had to compete in Over 16 category, with most of them being 18 years old. It was one of the first times I had to feel small when I stood on a starting line as most of them were in my size or even bigger and most of them had a full on beard… It was a nice and useful experience me J

The race, which was 5.1km, went well and I finished 13th out of 37. I was really pleased with the result and especially my time as I ran in under 20 min.
